How to Save in GTA 5 & GTA Online

This guide details how to save your progress in Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA 5) Story Mode and GTA Online. Both games utilize autosaves, but manual saving options are available in GTA 5's Story Mode to provide additional security.

GTA 5 Story Mode Saving:

Two methods exist for manual saving in GTA 5's Story Mode:

• Sleeping at a Safehouse: Locate a Safehouse (marked with a white house icon on the map). Approach your character's bed and press 'E' (keyboard) or the Right D-pad button (controller) to initiate sleep and save.

• Using the Cell Phone:

  1. Access your cell phone (Up arrow key on keyboard or Up on controller D-pad).
  2. Select the cloud icon to open the Save Game menu.
  3. Confirm the save.

GTA Online Saving:

GTA Online lacks a dedicated manual save menu. However, you can trigger autosaves using these methods:

• Changing Outfits/Accessories:

  1. Open the Interaction Menu (M key on keyboard or touchpad on controller).
  2. Select "Appearance," then "Accessories."
  3. Change any accessory or your outfit.
  4. Exit the Interaction Menu. Watch for the spinning orange circle in the bottom-right corner to confirm the autosave. Repeat if necessary.

• Swapping Character (Even Without Changing):

  1. Open the Pause Menu (Esc key on keyboard or Start button on controller).
  2. Navigate to the "Online" tab.
  3. Select "Swap Character."

Remember, a rotating orange circle in the bottom-right corner indicates an active autosave. While autosaves occur frequently, using these methods provides extra protection against data loss.
