Former developers of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 at Rebel Wolves have unveiled their new project, The Blood of Dawnwalker. Although the game won't reach full AAA scale, the team's ambitions remain high. Rebel Wolves’ founder, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, emphasized their goal to achieve The Witcher 3-level quality in a more compact form:

“We want AAA quality, like The Witcher 3—that’s our heritage. But as a small studio on our first project, we’re creating something more compact yet just as polished.”

The game is designed to take 30-40 hours to complete, a significant difference from the extensive playtime of The Witcher 3. Tomaszkiewicz questions the importance of scale in defining a game's AAA status:

“Comparing anything to The Witcher 3, which was meant to last 100+ hours but often exceeded 200-300 hours, is crazy. But is size what makes a game AAA? Call of Duty is AAA without a massive campaign. So, does scale really matter?”

He also dismissed the industry labels like “AAA” and “AAAA” as meaningless, focusing instead on quality and player experience.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is an action RPG where players control a half-vampire racing against time, with just 30 days and 30 nights to save their loved ones. Despite the time limit, the game promises a smooth experience. It is being developed using Unreal Engine 5 and will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, though a specific release date has not yet been announced.
