Ratatan's official gameplay trailer has dropped, showcasing the charming rhythm-based action and online co-op that fans of its predecessor, Patapon, will adore. Read on to learn more about the trailer and the upcoming closed beta.
Ratatan, a project spearheaded by Patapon creator Hiroyuki Kotani and featuring music by the original Patapon composer Kemmei Adachi, successfully surpassed its console stretch goal on Kickstarter in 2023, guaranteeing its release on consoles.
Ratatan's closed beta test is scheduled to begin on February 27, 2025, as announced on their Kickstarter page. Producer Kazuto Sakajiri shared exciting updates, revealing that the game has amassed over 100,000 Steam wishlists and received positive feedback on the Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo. While the game won't be featured in the upcoming Steam Next Fest, the team prioritizes the closed beta, aiming for a refined demo for the June Steam Next Fest.
Sakajiri detailed the closed beta's scope: players can expect access to Stage 1 initially, with Stages 2 and 3 added during the approximately month-long test period. He also noted that beta code distribution details, including the start date and time, will be announced via Discord and X upon confirmation.
Ratatan is slated for release in 2025 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. A specific release date is yet to be announced.
