When discussing puzzle games, I often recall a key insight from a conversation with the team at Wooga, the creators of June's Journey: compelling gameplay is always enhanced by an engaging story. This principle is clearly at work in the upcoming release, Puzzletown Mysteries, which is now in soft launch.
At first glance, this appears to be a standard puzzle collection. However, a closer look reveals levels inspired by classic CSI-style mystery investigations—albeit with less melodrama and danger. As you solve puzzles in Puzzletown Mysteries, you’ll take on a variety of criminal cases, making each challenge part of a larger narrative.
The puzzles themselves are impressively diverse. They range from straightforward pattern-matching tasks to more intricate hidden object scenes. Each one is carefully themed to make you feel like you're tackling a complex investigation, adding depth to the gameplay.

Beyond the core gameplay, Puzzletown Mysteries features striking digital artwork and the flexibility to play both online and offline. These features are particularly welcome for puzzle fans who enjoy gaming on the go.
While Puzzletown Mysteries may not be my personal favorite, I recognize its appeal to players who appreciate a narrative backdrop to their puzzle-solving.
