Popular YouTube personality Corey Pritchett is facing serious legal trouble. He's been charged with two counts of aggravated kidnapping. Adding to the shock, Pritchett reportedly left the country shortly after the charges were filed, leaving many fans reeling as details of the accusations surfaced online.
For those unfamiliar, Pritchett is a US-based content creator known for his relatable online persona. His YouTube career, launched in 2016, features family vlogs, challenges, and pranks. While not a top-tier YouTuber, his "CoreySSG" channel boasts approximately 4 million subscribers, and his secondary channel, "CoreySSG Live," has over 1 million. One particularly successful video, "LET’S HAVE A BABY PRANK," has amassed over 12 million views.
The alleged kidnapping incident occurred on November 24, 2024, in southwest Houston. According to ABC13, two women (ages 19 and 20) met Pritchett at a gym. Their day, which included ATV riding and bowling, took a frightening turn when Pritchett allegedly threatened them with a gun, sped away on I-10, and confiscated their phones, claiming he intended to kill them. The women later reported that Pritchett appeared anxious, believing someone was pursuing him, and mentioned previous accusations of arson.
After stopping his vehicle, Pritchett reportedly allowed the women to escape. They walked for over an hour before finding help and contacting law enforcement. On December 26, 2024, Pritchett was charged, but he had already fled to Doha, Qatar, on December 9th, using a one-way ticket. He's now reportedly in Dubai, where he posted a video mocking the warrants, claiming to be "on the run" and joking about the situation. This contrasts with the serious situation faced by former YouTube streamer Johnny Somali, who is facing potential new charges in South Korea (though unrelated to Pritchett's case).
The future of this case is unclear. Whether Pritchett will return to the US to face justice remains unknown. It's noteworthy that in 2023, YouTuber YourFellowArab was kidnapped for ransom in Haiti, an experience he later documented in harrowing detail.
