The first wave of 2025 prebuilt gaming PCs, equipped with the cutting-edge Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 and 5090 graphics cards, is now available for purchase. Leading retailers such as Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg, Adorama, and B&H Photo have fresh listings up on their sites starting today. If you're eager to get your hands on a complete system featuring these state-of-the-art GPUs, this is your prime opportunity, as these systems might not be available again until major OEMs like Dell (Alienware), HP (Omen), and Lenovo (Legion) roll out their own configurations towards the end of the first quarter.

If you're in the market for a standalone GPU rather than a prebuilt system, you'll want to check out our comprehensive RTX 5090 and 5080 preorder guide. Be prepared, though—the launch-day stock of GPUs often sells out within hours, if not minutes. Retailers have already issued warnings about inventory shortages, and recent Nvidia GPU launches have been plagued by bots snapping up stock to resell at inflated prices.

Dell has just launched its new Alienware Area-51 lineup of gaming PCs today. Currently, it's available in only two configurations, both paired with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K and GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, starting at a staggering price of $4,449.99. Don't expect immediate delivery; Dell estimates these systems will arrive by April 22.

New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis

Dell unveiled the new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. The chassis maintains a similar look to the 2024 R16 system but features minor aesthetic and cooling redesigns and updated components. The I/O panel is now at the top of the case instead of the front, and the tempered glass window spans the entire side panel, eliminating side panel vents. Air intakes are now located at the bottom and front of the case, promoting a positive airflow design for a less dusty interior. Internally, components have been refreshed with a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the new generation of CPUs and RTX 50 series GPUs.

Boutique PC Retailers with Built-to-Order RTX 50XX Systems

Some retailers offer the option to add RTX 5090 and/or 5080 GPUs to select built-to-order systems in their configurators. New RTX 50-series GPU configs are available at iBuyPower, Origin PC, Maingear, Starforge Systems, NZXT, and Digital Storm. While RTX 50-series systems are readily available through this method, keep in mind that build-to-order systems can be quite expensive and are typically the least cost-effective option.

Dell (Alienware), HP, and Lenovo Prebuilt PCs Coming Later

The major OEM computer retailers, including Dell, HP, and Lenovo, will not equip their prebuilt gaming desktop PCs with the new RTX 50-series GPUs until later in the year. At CES 2025, Dell showcased its Alienware Area 51 gaming PC, which is expected to feature Nvidia's new GPUs, with a launch anticipated sometime in the first quarter. HP plans to offer the RTX 5090 and 5080 in its flagship Omen 45L, hopefully by mid to late February. Lenovo has not yet announced when it will start integrating the new GPUs into its Legion Tower gaming desktops, so no expected launch date is available.

Our RTX 5090 FE and 5080 FE Reviews Are Live

The Nvidia 50-series GPUs were officially announced at CES 2025, with a strong focus on new and improved AI features over traditional raster performance. DLSS 4 technology is said to quadruple frame rates with minimal visual compromise. While these new GPUs do offer a modest performance boost, opinions are mixed on their value for PC gamers compared to the previous RTX 40-series cards.

In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE review, Jackie Thomas noted, "The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially taken the performance crown from the RTX 4090, albeit with less impact than previous generations. In terms of traditional non-AI gaming performance, the RTX 5090 offers one of the smallest generational uplifts in recent memory. However, in games that support it, DLSS 4 delivers significant performance gains, though you must accept that 75% of the frames are generated with AI."

Play

In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 FE review, Jackie shares a similar view. "If you already own a high-end graphics card from the last few years, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 might not make much sense—it doesn't significantly outperform the RTX 4080, though the additional frames from DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation do enhance gameplay in supported titles. However, for gamers with older graphics cards seeking a substantial performance boost, the RTX 5080 delivers, especially if you're open to Nvidia's AI enhancements."
