The Pokémon Trading Card Game's upcoming set, Destined Rivals, is generating excitement among fans, and I'm already planning my space and mentally preparing my budget for an Elite Trainer Box that I know I'll splurge on. This set revives the Trainer's Pokémon concept, brings back Team Rocket for more mischievous adventures, and showcases some of the most stunning card art we've seen in recent times. Whether you're a collector of dazzling cards or simply enjoy the thrill of strategic battles, this set promises something special for everyone.
The Pokémon Center website has undergone what can only be described as *mysterious* "maintenance" and is now taking preorders. If you miss out on that, keep an eye out for listings at Amazon, Target, Best Buy, and other retailers. You might find yourself refreshing pages like it's Black Friday, but it'll be worth it for those battle decks. Here's everything you need to know to secure your preorder this week.

When Does Destined Rivals Officially Launch?
--------------------------------------------
Mark your calendars for May 30, 2025, the official launch date for Destined Rivals. On this day, all sealed products will be shipped and available in stores, provided they're not sold out. The Pokémon Company has been working to address ongoing stock issues, but it's best to act fast. Pre-release events with Build & Battle boxes and early access tournaments will take place between May 17 and 25 at select stores. Reach out to your local league store now to participate, and perhaps sweeten the deal with some snacks.
What Products Will Be Launching With This Set?

Booster Packs
Booster Boxes (36 packs)

Pokémon Center Exclusive Elite Trainer Box
Booster Bundle (6 packs)
Triple-pack blisters
Build & Battle Box
Build & Battle Stadium
We can also expect special collection boxes featuring alternate art promos, likely spotlighting characters like Cynthia, Misty, Ethan, or Marnie. You might not need them, but you'll definitely want them.

Destined Origins Cards I’ve Got My Eye On
-----------------------------------------
I'm already imagining my collection expanding with multiple binders, but a few cards have already captured my heart and secured a spot on my wishlist.
Cynthia’s Garchomp ex is a powerhouse card. It delivers big damage, allows for hand draw, and exudes the confidence of a champion who always nails her setup. It's the epitome of champion energy, and I need three of these.
Ethan’s Ho-Oh ex blends utility with dazzling visuals. Its ability to accelerate Fire Energy is impressive, and Shining Feather not only heals your team but also deals 160 damage. It's absurdly good, and I'm all in.
Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex is all about drama. It won't attack unless you've built a Rocket-themed deck around it, but once it does, it manipulates energy like a hyperactive Gengar. It's extravagant, and I appreciate that.
Misty’s Psyduck brings humor to the table, with an ability that lets you discard it to the top of your deck for... well, reasons. I don't care about the reasons; it's perfect as it is.
Marnie’s Grimmsnarl ex channels villainous vibes with its aggressive Dark-type strategy, thriving on energy acceleration and being just disruptive enough to be effective. It's the perfect card for a disruption deck, and I plan to run it like it's still 2020.
