Moon Knight Will Return, but Not in a Season 2, Marvel Exec Says

Marvel's Moon Knight: Future Appearances Confirmed, Season 2 Unlikely

While a second season of Moon Knight on Disney+ is off the table, Marvel has confirmed Oscar Isaac's character will return to the MCU in a different capacity. Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, revealed this in an interview with ComicBook.

The shift away from a Season 2 stems from a change in Marvel Television's strategy. Initially, the plan was to introduce characters through standalone series before integrating them into larger MCU projects, as seen with Ms. Marvel leading to her appearance in The Marvels. Now, the focus is on creating self-contained, annually released shows, mirroring a more traditional television model.

Winderbaum stated, "I think Marvel Television has happened in waves, and I think Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future…moving forward our priorities have shifted. We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road.”

While Isaac voiced Moon Knight in Marvel's What If…?, his return in live-action remains unannounced.

The MCU's upcoming Disney+ shows include Daredevil: Born Again (March), Ironheart (June), Eyes of Wakanda (August), Marvel Zombies (October), and Wonder Man (December). Development on Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. has reportedly been paused, though Winderbaum mentioned exploring the possibility of a Defenders reunion.
