Marvel Snap in the US is blocked due to Tik-Tok restrictions

Marvel Snap, developed by California-based Second Dinner and published by ByteDance's Nuverse, was unexpectedly removed from iOS and Android on January 18, 2025. This ban, affecting other ByteDance apps like CapCut and Lemon8, left many players frustrated, especially due to the lack of prior warning. While players are reporting authorization problems, the game remains accessible on Steam for PC users.

Second Dinner has publicly stated their surprise and commitment to restoring the game's availability on mobile platforms, assuring players via Platform X that "Marvel Snap is here to stay. We're working hard to restore the game as quickly as possible, and we'll keep players informed of our progress." The abrupt removal and lack of warning are particularly concerning, as many players continued making in-app purchases unaware of the impending ban.

Interestingly, the ban didn't affect all ByteDance apps. Games like Ragnarok X: 3rd Anniversary and Earth: Revival - Deep Underground remain playable.

Recent discussions have centered on the addition of the Moonstone card. This 4/6 cost Ongoing card offers a significant meta shift, allowing players to copy the Ongoing effects of their 1, 2, and 3-cost cards in her lane. The existing pool of low-cost Ongoing cards, such as Ant-Man and U.S. Agent, already provides a substantial number of effects to copy. However, unlike many inexpensive Ongoing cards that primarily focus on power generation, Moonstone's ability to acquire these effects for free allows her to quickly achieve high power levels.
