Marvel's upcoming Vision Quest series is reportedly resurrecting a villain from the very first MCU film, Iron Man.
Deadline reports that Faran Tahir will reprise his role as Raza Hamidmi al-Wazar, the Afghan terrorist leader who held Tony Stark captive in the opening scenes of the 2008 film. Nearly two decades later, he'll return to the MCU. His last appearance was in that initial 30-minute segment of Iron Man, before being betrayed by Obadiah Stane.
This unexpected return mirrors the reappearance of Samuel Sterns from The Incredible Hulk in Captain America: Brave New World. While Vision Quest, starring Paul Bettany as White Vision, has no confirmed release date, al-Wazar's inclusion adds an intriguing element.
This suggests a retroactive inclusion of al-Wazar as a Ten Rings commander, potentially linking Vision Quest to the ongoing storylines established in Shang-Chi. Alternatively, Vision Quest might explore lesser-known or forgotten MCU elements, similar to how Deadpool & Wolverine revisited the less-conventional aspects of the former Fox Marvel universe.
Further adding to the intrigue, James Spader is also rumored to return as Ultron for the first time since Avengers: Age of Ultron. Details about the series remain scarce.
