Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.1 Leak Hints at Free 4-Star Character Selector
A recent leak suggests Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.1 will include a free 4-star character selector, likely part of a limited-time event. This selector would allow players to choose from Qingque, Pela, Serval, or Asta.
This news comes as Honkai: Star Rail's 3.0 update approaches, introducing new gameplay features and characters. While the game boasts 23 4-star characters, many are outclassed in the meta, requiring significant Eidolon investment to be truly effective. Past updates offered similar free selectors, aiding players in bolstering their 4-star rosters.
The leak, originating from prominent leaker HomDGCat, indicates the selector will feature four units: Qingque (Quantum, Erudition), Pela (Ice, Nihility), Serval (Lightning, Erudition), and Asta (Fire, Harmony). Interestingly, all are from the game's 1.0 cycle, and Asta is even an early-game acquisition. This fuels speculation that future 4-star additions might be scarce, given rumors suggesting upcoming characters will be exclusively 5-star. The disparity between 5-star (nearly 40) and 4-star characters is significant, further emphasized by the anticipated arrival of eight more 5-stars with Amphoreus, plus two more from the upcoming Honkai: Star Rail and Fate/Stay Night crossover.
The 2.0 cycle only saw four new 4-star characters (including March 7th's alternate form). While the future of 4-star releases remains uncertain, the potential shortage of new units for future selectors is a valid concern. Despite this, Version 3.0's highly anticipated additions of The Herta and Aglaea, alongside recently released redeem codes for Stellar Jades and materials, offer players much to look forward to.
