Honkai: Nexus Anima has unveiled further insights into the game's lore. Discover the concept of the Nexus and the potential inclusion of characters from other HoYoverse titles.
Honkai: Nexus Anima (HNA) recently shared more details about its gameplay features, with developer HoYoverse continuing to expand on its narrative foundation. In an official Twitter (X) post on August 31, the developers introduced players to the core concept of the "Nexus."
From the information released so far, HNA appears to follow a world-building approach similar to other HoYoverse games like Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, featuring rich lore, deeply developed character backstories, and the introduction of new terms and concepts.

The Nexus is described as "the fundamental connections between all things," linking everything together during an era when "nothing existed in true isolation." The game’s story, however, seems to unfold after a catastrophic event known as "The Sundering," which shattered the Nexus, broke "stable connections," and scattered its remnants throughout the world, taking the form of "Nexus Anima."
Nexus Anima are beings composed of "Aspect" energy. Using these Anima, individuals known as "Animasters" resolve their conflicts through Nexus Battles, which form the core of the game’s auto-battler gameplay.
In a follow-up tweet on September 2, 2025, HoYoverse expanded on the game’s terminology, focusing on Aspects. According to the post, Aspects are the philosophical and scientific principles that formed the foundation of the Old World. They exist in contrasting pairs, such as Light and Dark, Life and Death, which stand in opposition to the independent functioning of the New World.
After The Sundering, the connections between these Aspects were severed, and the resulting fragments gave rise to 81 distinct universes known as "Planes." Additionally, characters referred to as "Sovereigns" and "Novarchs" are set to play key roles in the game, described as powerful rulers of the "Old World" and "New World" respectively. More information about these characters is available on HNA's official website.

When the game was first teased during the Honkai: Star Rail concert livestream on May 4, fans quickly spotted characters from other HoYoverse titles, specifically Blade from Honkai: Star Rail (HSR) and Kiana from Honkai Impact 3rd (Hi3). This has sparked speculation about the potential inclusion of more characters from other HoYoverse games in HNA.
One character frequently mentioned by fans is Kafka, who has close ties to Blade. Both are Stellar Hunters from HSR, and many theorists suggest she could be the Sovereign that Blade is searching for, based on his in-game description.

However, while HoYoverse creates games with shared concepts or interconnected universes, it has not yet confirmed whether HSR and/or Hi3 are directly linked to HNA, or which specific characters might cross over into the new game. Regardless, fans are excited about the possibility of seeing their favorite characters from these titles make an appearance in HNA.
As HoYoverse continues to share more about the game, the community eagerly awaits further details on gameplay mechanics and the gacha system. Honkai: Nexus Anima is currently in development for mobile devices (iOS and Android) and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. For the latest updates, check out our article below!
