Hideaki Nishino will become the sole CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), effective April 1, 2025. This announcement, part of a press release issued this evening, also reveals significant changes in Sony's overall leadership. Hiroki Totoki, Sony's CFO, is promoted to President and CEO of the entire company, succeeding Kenichiro Yoshida who held the position since April 2018. Lin Tao, SVP of finance, corporate development, and strategy, assumes the role of CFO.
Last year, SIE leadership was split between Nishino and Hermen Hulst following Jim Ryan's retirement. Hulst led PlayStation Studios, while Nishino oversaw hardware and technology. This restructuring unites SIE leadership under Nishino, who now heads the entire operation and the platform business group. Hulst remains CEO of PlayStation Studios.
Nishino, a Sony employee since 2000, previously served as SVP of the platform experience group. In his statement, he expressed his honor at assuming the CEO role, emphasizing SIE's strengths in technology and creativity. He highlighted a continued focus on delivering engaging entertainment experiences, expanding PlayStation's IP, and driving technological innovation. He also thanked Hermen Hulst for his contributions and expressed gratitude to the PlayStation community.
