League of Legends Reintroduces Hextech Chests Following Fan Feedback

Riot Games has announced the return of Hextech Chests to League of Legends following significant fan feedback. In a developer update posted on their website on February 27, 2025, and accompanied by a video on their YouTube channel, the team at Riot acknowledged that their recent changes hadn't resonated well with the community. They stated, "Recently, we’ve made a number of changes that didn’t hit the mark for everyone. We’ve been listening to your feedback, and it’s clear that there are areas where we need to adjust."

The reintroduction of Hextech Chests was a direct response to community sentiment. Riot recognized the value that these chests brought to players, saying, "It’s clear that for many of you, Hextech Chests weren’t just a way to get stuff, they were an important part of making your time in League feel rewarding. We didn’t fully grasp how much this mattered to you, and that led us to make changes that missed the mark." Starting with patch 25.05, players can once again earn up to 10 chests and keys per act, with 8 available through the free pass and 2 through the Honor system.

Exalted Mordekaiser and Other Fan Feedback Changes

In addition to the Hextech Chests, Riot Games announced a delay for the Exalted Mordekaiser skin and the entire Exalted skin line to ensure they meet the expected standards. They stated, "We want to take more time to make sure it better delivers on its core fantasy." This delay means that fans will see fewer Exalted skins this year than originally planned.

Responding to further fan feedback, Riot will replace one non-Prestige skin with 25 Mythic Essence, addressing concerns about the scarcity of Mythic Essence in the paid pass and the frequency of champion releases. Additionally, to improve accessibility, Riot is lowering the Blue Essence cost for all champions by 50% as of patch 25.05.

Regarding Clash, Riot had initially planned to reduce its frequency but has now decided to revert to a monthly schedule. They announced, "March’s Clash event will be ARURF, then we’ll run a regular SR Clash in April."

Return of Your Shop and Blue Essence Emporium

Riot Games is also bringing back the fan-favorite Your Shop and Blue Essence Emporium. Your Shop will return in patch 25.06, and the Blue Essence Emporium in 25.07, giving players more opportunities to spend their in-game currency on desired items.

Riot emphasized their commitment to continuous improvement, stating, "We know getting League to the right place isn’t about just one set of changes. It’s about continually refining and improving the game in ways that make it better. We think today’s updates are an important step, and we’ll keep tracking how these changes feel, talking with all of you about how things are landing, and making adjustments."

With these updates, Riot Games demonstrates a strong dedication to listening to their community and making League of Legends a more enjoyable experience. The game remains available for free-to-play on PC. For the latest updates and news, be sure to visit our League of Legends page.
