Forza Horizon 5, Xbox's acclaimed racing title, is making its way to PlayStation!
Playground Games surprisingly revealed that Forza Horizon 5 will be available on PS5 this spring. This follows the trend of Xbox exclusives arriving on PlayStation, including titles like Sea of Thieves and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
Developed by Panic Button in collaboration with Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games, the PS5 version will boast identical content to its Xbox and PC counterparts. This includes all car packs and expansions, such as Hot Wheels and Rally Adventure.
This strategic move reflects Xbox's increasing openness to releasing games on non-Xbox platforms, encompassing PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. Xbox head Phil Spencer has even confirmed support for the upcoming Switch 2.
Recent financial reports from Microsoft's investor call shed light on this decision. While Indiana Jones and the Great Circle achieved 4 million players and PC Game Pass saw a 30% growth (boosting services revenue by 2%), overall gaming revenue declined due to a nearly 30% drop in console sales. This downturn may be influencing Xbox's focus on expanding Game Pass and broadening its game availability across different hardware platforms.
Forza Horizon 5 continues the celebrated open-world racing series. Offering a more arcade-style experience compared to its simulation-focused counterpart, Forza Motorsport, Forza Horizon 5 invites players to race and explore the stunning landscapes of Mexico.
