Civ 7 Ghandi DLC Might Be Coming After All

While initially absent from Civilization VII's launch roster, the possibility of Mahatma Gandhi's return as a DLC leader is very much alive. This news comes directly from the developers, who have confirmed they haven't ruled out bringing back beloved historical figures from previous installments. Hope Remains for Gandhi and Other Familiar Civ Leaders

In a February 13, 2025 interview with IGN, Civilization VII's lead designer, Ed Beach, offered a glimmer of hope for Gandhi's return. While not immediately available, Beach indicated that Gandhi's inclusion as DLC is a strong possibility.

During the interview, Beach addressed the absence of several popular civilizations and leaders from the base game, specifically mentioning Great Britain and India. He explained that the sheer number of beloved historical figures made it necessary to make some tough choices. The developers wanted to include fresh and exciting options alongside the established favorites. While some familiar faces were left out initially, Beach reassured fans that the team is considering the broader picture and plans to bring back more leaders and civilizations in the future. This leaves the door wide open for Gandhi's eventual return.

Given the extensive DLC history of Civilization VI, the expectation is that Gandhi will eventually appear in Civilization VII. However, a precise release date for his return as DLC remains unannounced.
