Gearbox Software has revealed the official release date for Borderlands 4.
During the recent State of Play presentation, Gearbox president Randy Pitchford announced that Borderlands 4 will launch on September 23rd, 2025. To mark the occasion, a new trailer showcasing exciting gameplay features was unveiled.
A standout feature in the trailer is the introduction of a grappling hook. However, fans of the series' signature over-the-top weaponry, explosive action, and chaotic mayhem will undoubtedly find plenty to appreciate.
Further celebrating the upcoming release, Gearbox also confirmed a dedicated Borderlands 4 State of Play presentation scheduled for this spring. This special event will offer an extended look at gameplay and a deeper dive into the game's extensive arsenal.
While narrative specifics remain under wraps, the lead writer previously hinted at a potential shift away from the previous game's reliance on "toilet humor." Whether Borderlands 4 adopts a more mature tone remains to be seen.
More details regarding Borderlands 4's story and features will be revealed during the spring State of Play. For now, you can find a summary of all the major announcements from today's PlayStation State of Play elsewhere.
