Recent Windows 11 Update Disrupts Assassin's Creed Gameplay; Patches Released

A recent Windows 11 update (24H2) introduced compatibility issues for several Assassin's Creed titles. Fortunately, Ubisoft has addressed the problem with patches for Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Valhalla, allowing players to launch and play these games without interruption. These updates are automatically delivered through Steam. Note that the patch for Origins requires 230 MB of free space, while the Valhalla patch needs 500 MB.

However, the issue persists for some Ubisoft games, notably Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Players experiencing problems with this title should postpone updating to Windows 11 24H2 until a dedicated patch is released. While previous hotfixes addressed similar problems in Star Wars: Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, some performance issues may remain.

The root cause of the incompatibility within the Windows 24H2 update remains unclear. Although Ubisoft swiftly addressed the problem for Origins and Valhalla, the delay in resolving the issue across all affected titles is concerning, especially given Microsoft's push for Windows 10 users to upgrade to Windows 11. The situation highlights the potential for unforeseen conflicts between major system updates and game software.
